Policy Advocacy
Policy Priorities
ICARE’s policy priorities underscore our commitment to safeguarding and advancing immigrant rights, as well as addressing critical issues faced by young immigrants in New York City.
We firmly believe that fundamental rights and universal access to legal representation should be available to all immigrants, regardless of their race, ethnicity, language preference, or immigration status.
We recognize transformative policies are essential to create a more inclusive and equitable New York City for all its residents.
We advocate for policies that protect immigrants’ rights, demanding that young immigrants are treated fairly and equitably and provided opportunities to grow and thrive.
KEY FOCUS AREAS:
● Advocate for universal access to representation for all NYC residents regardless of legal residency and immigration status
● Promote pathways to citizenship
● Fight back against legislation that promotes anti-immigrant sentiment and seeks to restrict immigrant rights
